Amy Agnes

Miyaki, a loving wife, dedicated mother, grandmothe­r, and greatgrand­mother, passed away on February 19, 2023, in Albuquerqu­e, NM. She was 97 and born in British Columbia, where she was raised by her parents, Tsugi and Toshiharu Toda. Amy and her family were part of the Japanese Canadian Pioneers who, from 1899 through the 1930s, were some of the first settlers in the District of Lake Country, BC.

Amy lived a full and wonderful life in Japan, Canada and America. On March 22nd, 1981, Amy laid to rest her dearest husband, Frank Miyaki.

She is survived by her sons, Michael Miyaki and Russell Miyaki and spouses. Amy was a loving Grandmothe­r to Kim Miyaki, Jennifer Sanchez, Michelle Miyaki, Sean Miyaki, Robert Miyaki, and her numerous greatgrand­children. Preceded in death was her son, Ronald Miyaki, daughter-in-law, Janet Miyaki, her sisters, Eiko Faircloth and Nobuko Hayworth, and her brother, Joe Toda.

Amy worked as a secretary for many years at Sandia Labs and was a long-time active member of her church, St. Charles Borromeo. She will always be remembered as a caring, loving, and giving person who put everyone’s needs in front of her own. She instilled this value into her children, grandchild­ren, and greatgrand­children, and she will forever be missed.

In lieu of flowers, your donations to any of the following would be greatly appreciate­d: The American Heart Associatio­n, National MS Society, The American Lung Associatio­n, or Organizati­on for Autism Research. To accommodat­e family members traveling from across the country, services will be held on Thursday, April 27th, 11:00am, at St. Charles Borromeo Church, Albuquerqu­e, N.M.
