Dolores "Mickey" McDonald

-

Dolores “Mickey” McDonald passed peacefully on Sunday February 26th, 2023. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend. Born in Trinidad Colorado on September 14th, 1926. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Howard “Bud” McDonald, her sister Loraine and brothers Harry and Fritz. She is survived by her son Eric, daughter Malia, her favorite son-in-law Greg, and her two grand-children Kent and Jalen.

It is impossible to capture the 96 years of life effectively, but while Mom was small of stature, she was feisty of spirit and was always looking for the next adventure which was manifested in her love of traveling and camping. She was an active member of the Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority for over 45 years and earnestly lived their mission statement of “Good friends, good works and good times”, especially the good times part- Mom loved a good party and would look for any excuse to have one. She enjoyed sports and was passionate in her support of Lobos men’s basketball, being a season ticket holder from when the Pit originally opened in 1966. She loved to read, knit, a good cross word puzzle, a better bargain, and a cold beer but not necessarily in that order.

Rosary and remembrance Mass will be held at Prince of Peace Catholic Church located at 12500 Carmel Ave N.E. on Saturday March 18th starting at 11am with the Rosary and 11:30am for the mass with a reception after at Spectators Sports Bar (one of her favorite post Lobo game haunts). Please join us as we celebrate the life Mickey lived and the wonderful memories that she has left us and wear some pink if possible.

We want to thank Adam and Bonnie at Grace Assisted Living where Mom spent her last days for the compassion, love, and dignity they showed- it is appreciated more than you know.
