Went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, July

29, 2023. She was surrounded by her loving husband and four children. Betty was a devoted wife, mother, grandmothe­r, sister, and auntie. She is survived by her husband, Dr. E. David Atencio and their four children: David and Valerie, Beverly and Patrick, Sandra and Gary, and Arlene. She loved her grandchild­ren more than anything: David, Gabrielle, Jonathan, Mychelle, and Gary. She was an amazing example of how to live a life and will always be missed. Sister Betty was a recognized Bible scholar. She served for 65 years alongside her husband as pastors of the Mount Calvary Spanish Baptist Church and mentored local pastors and their families.

She graduated with distinctio­n from UNM with a double major in Spanish and Religious Studies. She was honored to serve as translator for the Billy Graham Crusade Organizati­on and translated their literature and songs into the Spanish language. Visitation and viewing will be held Wednesday, August 9th, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at FRENCH – Wyoming.

The memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 10th, 2023, at 9:00 a.m., at Sagebrush Heights Campus located at 7500 Montgomery Blvd. NE, with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE.
