*Steals ^Blocks What you need to know about New Mexico: The Lobos will be back at full strength for the first time in five games as Cumber and Augmon are back from shoulder injuries. The timing is good, not only because UNM will need all the depth it can muster against No. 20 Gonzaga, but because the Lobos open Mountain West play next week. UNM figures to have its hands full trying to stay with a high-powered Gonzaga squad and must keep the scoring pace moderate. Look for the Lobos to throw numerous defensive looks at the taller Bulldogs in hopes of creating transition opportunities. UNM’s guards will need to look for 3-point openings when Gonzaga gets back defensively. The Lobos have not shot well from deep (27.2%) but they have shown improvement recently. What you need to know about Gonzaga: The Bulldogs, to put it mildly, are loaded this season. A 96-78 home rout of No. 3 Stanford earlier this month gives some idea of Gonzaga’s potential, and this is a team with legitimate aspirations of making a deep NCAA Tournament run. To go along with height, depth and talent, the Bulldogs have more experience than some professional teams. All five starters are fifthyear seniors or graduate students who returned with a championship in mind. The Bulldogs are especially potent on the offensive end, averaging 82.6 points per game with all five starters in double figures. Kaylynne Truong, the reigning WCC Player of the Year, ranks sixth nationally in assists but trails her twin sister, Kayleigh, in scoring.
