Vicky Lou Poff Frazee

-

Vicky Lou Poff Frazee, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, passed away peacefully in her Albuquerque, New Mexico, home on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at the age of 69.

Vicky was born in Albuquerque on March 21, 1954, as the second child of Doyle Talmadge Poff and Pina Mae Hamilton Poff. Their first child, Cathy, was 16 months old when Vicky was born. Pina also had a daughter from a previous marriage, Joan, who was 20 years old at the time and was starting a family of her own. The Poff family welcomed their third child, Susan, 11 months after Vicky was born. The Poffs were active in their church and were characterized by their love for each other. They often also welcomed Joan’s daughter, Judy Gale Crawford Long, now of Colorado Springs, Colorado, into their home. Judy was more like a sister to the Poff girls than a niece due to the closeness of their ages.

The Poff family lived in Albuquerque during Vicky’s younger years. She attended Inez Elementary School until the family moved to Valencia County where they lived at various times in Bosque Farms, Valencia Edition and Los Lunas. Vicky attended Bosque Farms Elementary, Daniel Fernandez Junior High and Los Lunas High School during this period. The Poff family subsequently moved back to Albuquerque where Vicky attended and ultimately graduated from Eldorado High School in 1972.

Vicky married David E. Frazee on June 17, 1972. Shortly after the birth of their daughter, Kay, in 1978, they moved to Edgewood, New Mexico. While in Edgewood, Vicky loved to garden and would grow not only vegetables and fruits, but also beautiful flower gardens. She also loved to bake, especially around Christmas, and would make (and teach

Kay to make) delicious cookies, candies and pies. Vicky lived in Edgewood until after she and David divorced in 2010. She, in time, moved back to Albuquerque where she lived for the rest of her life.

More than anything else, Vicky loved God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) and relied on Him. She enjoyed spending time in Bible reading, and she regularly attended Eastern Hills Baptist Church where she also joined Bible study groups. One of her favorite studies was The Beloved Disciple by Beth Moore.

Vicky also loved her family. She enjoyed spending time with her daughter, Kay, and her two granddaughters, Kara and Lara. She also loved to be with her sisters, Cathy and Susan, and their families, which included several of Vicky’s nieces and nephews.

Vicky was preceded in death by her parents and her half-sister, Joan Gale Jenkins McBee.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen “Kay” Lynette Frazee Snyder, and her husband, Johann “Yo” David Snyder, of Albuquerque, as well as her two granddaughters, Kara Megan Snyder, who is attending Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona, and Lara Elle Snyder, who is attending Colorado State University in Pueblo. She is also survived by her sisters and their families: Cathy Beth Poff Smith and her husband, Harold G. Smith Jr., of Albuquerque, and Susan Kay Poff Roberts and her husband, John B. Roberts, of Edgewood.

Services for Vicky will be held at Eastern Hills Baptist Church, 3100 Morris St., N.E. in Albuquerque on Monday, February 19, 2024, at 11 a.m. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Eastern Hills Baptist Church, and if you so choose, note that you would like the donation to go to the church’s Endeavor building fund.
