Dan Wesley Brittain, born
June 17, 1942, in Clovis and raised in Melrose, New Mexico, passed away on February 17, 2024, from Alzheimer’s disease. Parents Randall and Ruth Brittain and brothers Gary and Jim predeceased him. Dan is survived by wife, Karen; sons, Eric and Tim; daughter, Danita; four grandchildren, Serena, Kaci, Stoney, and Erin; sister, Randa Bradley; as well as an abundance of friends.
Dan graduated from Melrose High School before joining the US Navy serving aboard the USS Bennington. On Nov 13, 1961, Dan married his high school sweetheart, Karen Pack. He and his wife raised three children in Albuquerque. He retired from the Bureau of Indian Affairs in 1990. In 2006, Dan and Karen built their cabin in Tierra Amarilla,
New Mexico and resided there for 24 years only moving to Rio Rancho in July 2022 when Dan’s health declined. Over the years, he enjoyed playing football, racing his car, target shooting, building computers, being a member of Albuquerque Citizens Rescue Association, photography, woodworking, camping, cooking, flying his tripacer, family campouts, socializing with the community, taking point on Telavera subdivision activities, traveling with his wife, and spending time with his grandchildren. Dan was very dedicated to his family and was loved by all that knew him. He will be remembered for his friendly nature and desire to help.
There will be a celebration of life Saturday March 2, 2024 10:30am at Church of Christ, 1006 22nd St SE, Rio Rancho, NM 87124.
