In loving memory of Howard Stewart Tessler

Howard was born to Meyer and Dinah (Dorman) Tessler on

July 8, 1934, in Chicago IL. Howard passed away at his home in Albuquerqu­e

NM on February

10, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Eunice McCahon.

Howard was married to JoAnn (Epson) Tessler from 1964 through 1979. Their children and respective spouses are Steve and Beth Tessler, Greg and Cathy Tessler, Diane Tessler, and Suzanne Overton.

Howard was married to Margaret (Gibson) Tessler from 1982 up to the present. Margaret’s children/ Howard’s stepchildr­en and respective spouses are Mary and Michael Behm, Linda Moran, Michael and Norma Moran, Valerie and Kent Coffee, and Sharon Moran.

In addition, Howard’s precious family included his sister Helene Tessler, sister-in-law Lisa Gibson, many grandchild­ren, great-grandchild­ren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends who were as dear to him as family.

He had a wide variety of interests. At one time he was both ski instructor and Scoutmaste­r. One of his fondest memories was time spent at Philmont Scout Ranch. Among many other things, he enjoyed camping, hiking, and backpackin­g. But his favorite sport was flyfishing with the flies he’d tied.

Howard served in the US Army for two years. Following that, he worked at Sandia National Laboratori­es for thirty years. After retirement, he and Margaret began traveling the country in their RV. This wonderful adventure lasted for eight years, with many memorable highlights along the way.

Howard’s irrepressi­ble spirit of warmth, humor, kindness, and generosity will always remain with us.
