*Steals ^Blocks What you need to know about the Lobos:

Despite the three dynamic starting guards, UNM has tried to be an inside-out offense in the halfcourt and got back to that on Wednesday, outscoring Fresno State 38-18 in points in the paint. Nelly Junior Joseph had his best game of the season in the Jan. 16 game against Utah State in the Pit with 26 points, eight rebounds and five blocked shots. He’s averaging 12.8 points, 11.3 rebounds, 1.3 blocks and 1.0 steals in his past four games, performing as well as any center in the league. Lobo point guard Jaelen House has hit just 20.5% of his shots in the past three games — 5-of-15 on 2s (33.3%) and 3-of-24 on 3s (12.5%). While his defensive ball pressure remains his biggest weapon, the Lobos could use more makes on offense.

*Steals ^Blocks What you need to know about the Aggies:

Utah State has already clinched at least a share of the Mountain West championship. A win over the Lobos would give the program its first-ever outright MWC championship. In conference games, the Aggies’ opponents get 55.9% of their scoring on 2-point shots and the UNM Lobos lead the league, in conference games, in percentage of points they score off 2-point shots (56.4%). Utah State takes away the 3-point shot (both in limiting attempts but also holding teams to a league-low 28.1% from beyond the arc) and the Aggies don’t generally foul a lot. USU has been susceptible to turnovers, especially live ball turnovers (USU ranks ninth in league games in steal rate at 9.3%), while UNM leads the conference in steals (11.3%) and has been at its best when turning teams over leading to transition scoring opportunities.
