House rules We’ll always have Las Vegas

- BOB FERGUSON DAVE MATHEWS

We’ll miss you, Jaelen. You were so exciting to watch these past three years. Best of luck to you in your future endeavors on and off the basketball court.

Pitino staying put?

Congrats to all the players and coaches for the excellent season and NCAA tourney appearance this year. As we were watching the Clemson/UNM game, a friend of mine said, “Welp, at least we don’t have to worry about another school stealing our coach away.” Not yet, anyway.

TOBY ATENCIO

Congratulations to the Lobo men’s basketball team for a job well done. At the beginning of the season, you were not picked to win anything, but you proved those naysayers wrong. You have something the rest of the Mountain West teams don’t have and that’s a Mountain West Tournament championship trophy. The loss in the NCAA Tournament will fade in the players’ and fans’ minds over time. However, we will never forget the

four straight wins at the MWC tournament and the honor you gave to your fans and the state of New Mexico. Once again, the fan support was incredible, and I look forward to next season.

DAN SALAS

I’ve heard that the persons most often chosen as the Lobo Louie mascot happen to be the right physical size to fit the costume. Seeing all of the mascots at the Mountain West Conference basketball tournament last week, it’s clear to me that Lobo Louie is the weakest looking and worst performing of them all. Black socks, tennis shoes, and red gloves are a sad appearance for what could be a more attractive mascot. And having someone in the suit who can pull off a few dance moves and/or do a few acrobatics would be a plus. I say it’s time for UNM to step it up.
