The Food and Wine Grand Tour of Sicily

The uniqueness of a Sicilian Food and Wine experience doesn’t simply lie in its variety and rich flavours, but also in the ability that every dish has to tell a historical chapter of the Peoples of Sicily, as well as their dominations.

If you say Sicily, you say taste. When you arrive in the most southern part of Italy, in the island of beauty and baroque art, you are guided onto a route where art, food and wine meet creating a fascinating journey. Spending a week in Sicily means an immersion that gratifies all the five senses. Here, where everything is color and warmth, you are easily led by the flavors and aromas, and find yourself traversing the ancient culture of the island that lives in the shadow of Etna. We begin a seven-day tour of Sicily, savoring the food and wine tradition in its different forms on the street or amid the markets, in home kitchens or in the most noteworthy restaurants. A complete experience along the roads of Sicily.

Palermo Airport - Town Day 1

Welcome to the warm, beautiful and pleasant island of Sicily! We start admiring the Massimo Theatre (external view), then we explore a suggestive and lively open-air market, a place with strong Arab influences, resembling a souk, with picturesque stands of fresh fish, cheeses, fruits and vegetables. During the tour we will have the opportunity to observe local people in their daily activities and to savor foods that real Sicilian people love to eat! Tasting typical street food is included. The walking tour through the ancient center of Palermo is around 3-4 hours, and we will visit several monuments including Piazza Pretoria and the Cathedral. At the end of the walking tour we will reach Monreale by taxi in order to visit the Dome, a wonderful example of the Arab-norman art and architecture. Founded in 1174 by William II, the Dome represents scenes from the Old and New Testaments all in golden mosaics. Later, return to Palermo and in the evening a welcome dinner at a fine restaurant.
