Seat­tle Cream Cheese Dog

ar­­tle-cream-cheese-dog Cook a thinly sliced Walla Walla or other sweet onion in but­ter un­til soft­ened and deep brown, about 20 min­utes. (This makes enough for about 4 dogs.) Warm cream cheese in a small saucepan, then spread it on a hot dog bun. Add a cooked hot dog and top with onions, brown mus­tard, and sauer­kraut. Cream cheese is the main fea­ture of this snack found at street ven­dors and bars through­out Seat­tle. Some folks add a lit­tle heat with jalapeños or hot sauce. West Coast hot dog ar­ti­sans have been seen us­ing a caulk gun to quickly and evenly dis­trib­ute the cream cheese.
