CHEWY PEANUT BUTTER-CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES

1 tsp. baking soda

½ tsp. salt

½ cup butter, softened

½ cup peanut butter

1 cup packed brown sugar

½ cup white sugar

2 eggs

2 Tbsp. light-color corn syrup

2 Tbsp. water

2 tsp. vanilla extract

2 cups chopped semisweet chocolate

or chopped chocolate candy bars

1. Preheat oven to 375°F.

2. Stir together flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl. In a large bowl, beat together butter and peanut butter with an electric mixer 30 seconds. Beat in brown and white sugars until smooth. Beat in eggs, one at a time. Add corn syrup, water, and vanilla. Beat in flour mixture, then fold in chocolate pieces. Drop by 3-Tbsp. portions 3 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets.

3. Bake until edges are golden,
