AJ Bouye—Pro Bowl cornerback, philanthropist, dad and avid home cook—serves
up his winning tailgating tips to help you score all your game day goals.
1 PREP TIME
Plan on cutting, skewering and marinating kabobs the night before for maximum ease and flavor. If you are planning to grill them at your party, use two skewers instead of one to prevent rolling and keep all kabob items cooking evenly.
2 NIGHT GAME
Save valuable time on game day by shaping burger patties and packing them between sheets of wax paper the night before.
3 ROLL WITH IT
Make sure to pick the right bread for your sandwiches. If you are serving something hearty, like meatballs or burgers, choose a bun or a roll, which offer more support. If you are serving a sandwich with lighter fillings such as deli meat, cheese and tomatoes, opt for thick-cut slices of bread to keep it from getting soggy until it’s ready to be eaten.
4 JUMP ON THE BANDWAGON
Put an ice chest on a stroller-style wagon. This makes it easy to walk around the tailgate to visit other fans and serve drinks at the same time.
