You shouldn’t be if you are cur­rently or about to be­come preg­nant. Sci­en­tists stud­ied a co­hort of 886,996 com­pleted preg­nan­cies with a por­tion of moth­ers hav­ing taken statins dur­ing the first trimester. The study found con­gen­i­tal mal­for­ma­tions to be al­most twice as com­mon in preg­nan­cies where statins were used than in those where they weren’t. Source: BMJ
