Theresa Paden’s artwork is recognized for its vivid colors and expressive brushwork. An animal lover and horsewoman, she has a passion for painting horses, longhorns, wildlife and people of the West. Inspired by the Fauves, she mixes bright colors and intense light with her expressive style to capture the heart and soul of her subjects.
“I approach each canvas with a feeling of adventure and excitement,” says Paden. “My goal is to capture the soul of the person or animal I’m painting, and I love to experiment with vibrant color combinations.”
Paden grew up backpacking in the Sierras and developed a love of nature and animals. Her mother was a technical illustrator and fine artist. Her father was a technical illustrator and leather artist, making saddles and Western purses. Before becoming a fine artist, Paden was a graphic designer and a senior art director for the NFL where she designed Super Bowl logos, posters, tickets and VIP invitations.
“It makes me so happy when my collectors tell me they are energized by the colors and textures in my work and feel an emotional connection to the animals and people I portray,” Paden says.
Paden is represented by Wilde Meyer Gallery in Scottsdale and Tucson, Arizona, as well as Tracy Miller Gallery in Manitou Springs, Colorado. Her work will be on view in the exhibition Western Expressions at Wilde Meyer Gallery in Scottsdale this February.
