Figurative vision
Beginning January 27, Sirona Fine Art in Hallandale Beach, Florida, will present the works of Cuban oil painter Yunior Hurtado. Lauded for the nuances of physical emotion in his works, as well as his tactful capturing of youth culture and sentiment, Hurtado is very much an artist of the people.
Hurtado began his artistic studies at the Vocational School of Arts in Cuba, and concluded his educational career in 1999 at the Professional Academy of Fine Arts. In the following years, the artist has focused on developing his work, participating in events inside and outside his country with more than 20 solo and group exhibitions. His works are found in collections in various countries of the world, with an emphasis on Denmark and the United States. Today, he lives in Lima, Peru, where he continues to further his vision as a figurative painter.
In his most recent collection, Hurtado furthers his exploration of human expression in a tumultuous world. “I’m interested in forms and figurative, the human being as the center, and everything that surrounds and affects it. Moments, expressions and behaviors are elements used when designing my work,” says the artist.
This sentiment is particularly apparent in Por Todo, or For All, which captures the moment a grinning woman leaps into an orange sky with outstretched arms.
