Exhibiting contemporary art in all media by established and emerging artists, AnArte Gallery has a mission “to be an innovative and compelling gallery of contemporary art where the public can directly experience the work and ideas of living artists and understand the historical, social and cultural context of the art of our time.” The gallery hosts monthly solo or group exhibitions for its roster of artists, where the openings are about the “renaissance of life,” according owner and founder Ana Montoya. There is live music, art and an aspect of giving back during the receptions, as the artists and gallery support a local nonprofit organization.
On May 9, the gallery will open the exhibition Communion featuring the landscape paintings of Steven DaLuz that feature oil and metal leaf on panels. Of his work, the artist says, “I strive to evoke a sense of mystery and spirituality in my work, whether the subject is inspired by a literal place, an imagined landscape or the figure. While I share a similar sensibility with 19th-century luminism, I primarily focus on the sublime and the expressive beauty of nature and humanity. Here, I consider the very stones as metaphors—declaring an origin beyond our full grasp.”
