The Braden­ton area may be known for its bar­rier is­land beaches but it is also home to ex­cep­tion­ally tal­ented artists and per­form­ers and nu­mer­ous his­tor­i­cal or­ga­ni­za­tions and art schools of qual­ity equal to any found along Flor­ida’s Gulf Coast.

ArtCen­ter Mana­tee marks its 81st year as the area’s pre­mier vis­ual arts cen­ter. Fea­tur­ing works from tal­ented lo­cal, state and na­tional artists, ex­hi­bi­tions change monthly in the three large gal­leries. The na­tional Sumi-e So­ci­ety of Amer­ica’s 55th An­nual Ex­hibit was held at the cen­ter in Novem­ber and from Jan­uary 15 to Fe­bru­ary 22 the gallery is home to the Amer­i­can Wa­ter­color So­ci­ety's Trav­el­ing Ex­hi­bi­tion.
