Civil rights ac­tivist Peggy Cooper Cafritz, who passed away ear­lier this year, be­queathed a ma­jor col­lec­tion of more than 400 works of art by con­tem­po­rary artists of African de­scent to the Stu­dio Mu­seum in Har­lem. Cafritz also left 305 works to Wash­ing­ton, D.C.’s Duke Elling­ton School of the Arts.
