American Farmhouse Style

Ready, Go! Set,

- Victoria Van Vlear — Editor

It’s a new year, which means it’s time to make your house plans for the next 12 months. If you’re like me, you probably have ideas for renovations and DIY projects in every room, and unless you’re building a new house or doing a full home renovation this year (kudos to you if you are!), you’ll have to pick and choose which projects and rooms will get attention.

Luckily, we’ve put together this renovation issue so you can get all the inspiration, project ideas and information you need to get started. Whether you’re planning to hire a contractor and designer to update your spaces or do the work yourself DIY style, we’ve got great examples for you to follow. Learn how to renovate a historic home to keep its original integrity (page 48), transform a home from any style into farmhouse style (page 102) and add custom farmhouse details to a master-planned home (page 72). If you’re a DIYER, learn how to add farmhouse architecture to your home (page 24), install your own reclaimed wood wall (page 12) or paint tile for a trendy stenciled look (page 85).

We also have an exciting project happening in 2019— American Farmhouse Style is building our own farmhouse! You can follow along in each issue for room reveals

(page 112), and stay up-to-date online with our project house newsletter (sign up at americanfarmhousestyle.com /project-house/).

Finally, the new year is a great time to subscribe to your favorite magazine (hint: it’s us). And we have more good news on that front: We’re putting out six issues in 2019! You can get American Farmhouse Style at your front door every other month—what a great way to start the new year.

Enjoy this time of planning and preparation—it’s easy to be ambitious on paper and then not have the time to get everything done, so be kind to yourself with your goals.

Happy reading,
