Exposed Ceiling Beams

-

Exposed ceiling beams add true architectural authenticity to a room, and you don’t have to build your home from scratch in order to get the exposed beam look. Pioneer Millworks is one of the first FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified reclaimed wood companies in the world, and they work on both new and existing builds to integrate reclaimed wood, sometimes in the form of exposed ceiling beams. “We help architects and builders to integrate reclaimed timbers into their new-build projects, often adding traditional joinery for an authentic look and functionality,” says Jered Slusser, Northeast and Midwest Marketing Manager at Pioneer Millworks. “This same level of customization is available to clients working with an existing home.”

To add reclaimed ceiling beams, Jered recommends “re-sawing the timbers on one face, providing a cleaner interface with existing sheetrock or wood ceilings… we focus on the dimensions of the timbers to make sure they work well for the dimensions of the space. ”This type of project can potentially be DIY, but Jered says it’s always best “with a professional’s expertise.”
