Wood Paneling

-

Shiplap and beadboard and board and batten—oh my! These types of interior wall accents add both texture and character, and make great DIY projects. There are many options to get your perfect look, too. For example, Weaber Lumber produces finished wood boards that are available at Home Depot and designed to create custom wood paneling. “We’ve seen people use them on walls, ceilings and headboards, and to create pieces of furniture, picture frames and decorations,” says Darren Grier, Senior Graphic Artist and Marketing Manager at Weaber. “Our Weathered Wall Boards are versatile.” Unlike buying premade sheets of paneling such as beadboard, starting with individual finished boards allows you to get creative with the pattern. “We’ve seen people create herringbone, chevron, vertical and horizontal patterns,” Darren says. “We’ve also seen a few do a mix of diagonal and vertical together, and even mix the different colors [of the boards].” For detailed instructions on how to install individual wood panels, see page 12.

If you rent your home or apartment, you can still add wood paneling. Just use brad nails instead of wood glue to install the boards so you can remove them before you move out.
