Set the MOOD

-

Trying to decide on a color scheme? When you come face-to-face with the almost endless selections of paint swatches and fabric samples, it’s hard to know where to start. First ask yourself, “What mood do I want my family and guests to feel when they first step into my home?”

CALMING: Blues, greens and lavenders. These shades are known to be relaxing, and can even lower your heart rate. Consider painting specific rooms like your bathroom, bedroom or mudroom these colors to invoke a peaceful setting.

ENERGIZING: Reds and oranges. These are the perfect colors for spaces with high activity, like a kids’ play room. Red hues are also known to stimulate appetite. Paint or accent your dining room or kitchen with these shades.

UPLIFTING: Yellow, cream and other light neutrals. The light, airy feeling of these colors brings your mood up when you enter a room. Sunrooms or living rooms are ideal for these softer colors, and will naturally reflect light to brighten gathering areas.

FOCUSING: Dark purple, gray and other dark neutrals. Combine these colors with minimal or natural décor, and you’ll find yourself focused like never before. Accent office spaces and other study nooks in these hues to invoke concentration.
