TABLESCAPE FLORAL ARRANGEMENTS

Whether this is your first time arranging flowers or you’re a pro, here are a few easy-to-remember tips for the florals in your tablescape.

1. Repeat simple patterns across entire designs. Single flowers are beautiful on their own, but if you’ve ever walked through a field of flowers, you know that hundreds or thousands of them together are simply stunning. You don’t necessarily have to think harder than this when it comes to setting your own table. “It is worth repeating that one or two flowers, objects, somethings repeated or used en masse can be very effective, as was the case with tulips and cherry blossoms plunked in clear wine bottles and randomly placed on the table,” Schultz says.

2. Fill blank spaces. One of the best ways to use flowers and greenery in tablescapes is to fill as much blank space as possible. Of course, leave room for essentials such as glasses and cutlery, but for the centerpiece, arrange it in such a way as to draw the eye to a large focal point. “You want some space of course,” says Schultz, “but not too much.”

3. If need be, sprinkle in a few fakes. The flowers you want can be tough to find year round, as flower prices change with the holidays and growing seasons (as with buying roses around Valentine’s Day). So if you can’t find quite what you’re looking for, it’s fine to sprinkle a few faux flowers in with the real blooms. As Schultz explains, “A bit here and there, every now and then, mixed in with real stuff, I think is OK.”
