HOPE CHEST

THE HISTORY OF THE HOPE CHEST is filled with meaning. When settlers arrived in America, home goods such as silver tea sets, candlesticks and linens were precious commodities. As a young girl grew up, her mother taught her how to sew, and she would begin to make linens and other items for her future marriage. She placed these inside her hope chest, which would ideally be filled by the time she married.

This charming bedroom has a chest at the foot of the bed, which acts as both a storage space and a seating area.
