HOW TO CLEAN YOUR AREA RUG

-

1. READ THE LABEL. If your rug has a label, it will often give

specific instructions for cleaning and care.

2. USE THE RIGHT VACUUM. Your vacuum should have a canister, not a beater bar, which can damage the fibers in the rug.

3. VACUUM ONCE PER WEEK. Every few months, you should also do a deeper cleaning by vacuuming the underside of the rug. Sweep up the dirt that has accumulated on the floor; then flip the rug and repeat. Vacuum and sweep until no more dirt accumulates on the floor after a round with the vacuum.

4. FOR STAINS: First, try to catch the stain while it’s still wet. Don’t wait until the spot is dry to clean it. Spot clean the area with soap and water, and blot instead of scrubbing. This will minimize any fibers coming up out of the weave of the rug.

5. ROTATE THE RUG. Regularly rotate the rug so the wear is

even across the whole piece.

6. CLEAN PROFESSIONALLY. Your rug should get a professional cleaning every 1 to 2 years to keep it in top shape for the long term.
