Considerations CARPET
Different types of flooring work for different rooms, and carpet is no exception. We’ve partnered with Stainmaster for carpet in the bedrooms of our Project House. Here are suggestions from Stainmaster’s Vice
President, Brook Brown, on how to decide if carpet is a good choice for your own home.
• TRAFFIC. While you can certainly use carpet anywhere in your home, it’s especially ideal for spaces with less traffic, such as bedrooms. “It’s cozy, it’s warm, it reduces noise, it is soft to walk on and it’s cost effective when replacement is warranted,” Brook says. The most common uses for carpet are on stairs, in hallways and in bedrooms.
• MOISTURE. While carpet can be long-lasting and durable, you don’t want to carpet areas
that have a lot of moisture, such as bathrooms, laundry rooms or an outdoor sunroom.
• INSTALLATION. In addition to finding a carpet with a quality, durable fiber, avoid costly mistakes by having it installed professionally. “You want something that is going to last … to stand up to your family, to your pets, to anything you can throw at it and something that is easy to replace when fashion or color changes,” Brook says.
