How to add fall touches to your vintage décor

It doesn’t take much to add fall decorations to a home with yearround vintage farmhouse style. All you need is a bit of color, texture and nature to enjoy the warmth of the season.

NATURE’S DÉCOR

For a budget-friendly option, try decorating with natural elements you can find outside your door. “Using natural elements is my favorite,” says Monica. “I love the warmth that it brings.” Fill vases with tree branches and tall grasses, add dried leaves to your table’s centerpiece and place pumpkins and gourds here and there on shelves and other surfaces. It’s these small touches that will go a long way in creating an autumnal vibe.

COZY COLORS

For a simple touch that will up the comfort level in your spaces, add pillows and blankets to beds, sofas and chairs. “Find a color palette that works well in your home and build off that,” says Monica. Her plaid blanket and burnt-orange pillow complement the neutral tones of the existing vintage pieces, while bringing a seasonal feel to her home. Adding vintage artwork that complements your seasonal color palette is another simple swap that will change the mood. (below) Family treasures mingle with vintage trinkets in Monica’s son’s bedroom. The turtle shell belonged to her husband when he was little, and now it’s a statement piece alongside a vintage sign and a printer’s tray. Miniature white pumpkins blend in with the neutral palette, while adding the perfect hint of fall.
