1. Prepare your piece of furniture by cleaning it well, removing the hardware and putting on as many coats as necessary of a chalk type or mineral-based paint. There are many brands to choose from, and your local upcycle shop can steer you in the right direction. We chose a soft white for this project.

2. Once your paint is dry, pull the drawers out and arrange them as they will be when put back in the dresser, paying attention to the space in between the drawers. You will want to keep that space as close as possible to the same as it will be when they are in the dresser. This will prevent distortion or elongation of the design as you stamp.

3. Cut your blooms out from the main sheet right on the backing for ease of use and layout. (For more tips on using the stamps, visit ironorchiddesigns.com/decorstamps.)

4. Spend a little time planning and laying out your design. Decide which blooms and leaves will be in your background and which will be in the foreground.

TIP: Take a picture once you have all your stamps laid out so that you can reference it if you forget your layout.

5. Set aside the background blooms and leaves, and begin by stamping the foreground blooms. We used our IOD Ink in black, but we have many colors to choose from. Ink up a blank pad with the liquid ink, and then gently but thoroughly cover your design with the ink pad.

6. Place the design down on the surface, and with even, firm pressure apply the design onto the drawer. Repeat this step for each of the foreground blooms.

7. Allow stamped designs to dry. This takes about 10–20 minutes.

8. Cover the stamped designs with masks. Masks are clear acetate sheets in the exact shape of the stamp designs to protect the designs as you stamp over them.

9. Reference the image of your preferred layout, and stamp the background blooms.

You can stamp right over the masks; they will wash off. The leaves will be your last stamped designs, and you will cover your background blooms (after allowing them to dry) with their masks before you stamp the leaves.

10. Remove all the masks and reveal your beautiful design. Put your dresser back together, and enjoy a new statement piece that will brighten up any space in your home!
