Designing multiple bathrooms with a unified look is a tall order, but this northern California home pulls it off with farmhouse style.

Five bathrooms in one home that all needed to fit a cohesive feel? No problem. Designer Michelle Lisac of Michelle Lisac Interior Design was ready was up to the task in a newly constructed modern farmhouse in northern California. Michelle calls it Farmhouse with Napa style. Throughout the project, she sought out pieces “that felt handmade, not fresh and perfect,”she says. “We incorporated hand-hewn looking pieces. We wanted things that were costeffective but still had that look.”

"In the end it still feels very cohesive. It was a team effort.”

BUDGETING COSTS

The team had a goal of keeping a unified look and also being price conscious. While they splurged on certain accent items, they were able to save money by using the same or similar tiles and choosing porcelain instead of hand-painted options. “Looking at different materials is a good way to help with the budget,” Michelle says.

Although the project was a lot for the team to complete quickly, Michelle appreciated the opportunity for the entire group to collaborate. “It was fun,” she said. “We don’t all usually work on one project together.”

As a result, “the bathroom feels even bigger.” (above, right) The vertical wainscoting in the basement powder bathroom connects with the home’s modern farmhouse style. It also draws the eye upward,
