Fall Focus
THIS FALL, I HAVE ENTERTAINING ON MY MIND—and not just for the magazine. My daughter’s first birthday is in November, and I’m already in planning mode. From designing a theme (a vintage honey bee motif) to food and drinks (including a signature honey cocktail for the adults), a tablescape (hello, sunflower centerpieces), invitations, favors and games (including a bubble machine) there’s a lot to think about, plan for, make and order. But that’s the fun of hosting and entertaining—the planning and prep that goes into making an event special.
We have some fun entertaining ideas for you this issue, whether you’re hosting for the fall holidays (page 108), or simply getting together with friends for the first time in a while (page 112). Upgrade your kitchen with entertaining accessories both new (page 22) and vintage (page 26), and take inspiration from other beautiful tablescapes (page 28).
Of course, we have you covered for fall decorations too. There are some darling vintage-inspired homes for you to tour in this issue (pages 52 and 76), along with modern farmhouse options that use color and pattern to suit the season (pages 66 and 92). We’re revealing another new space in our Tennessee Project House (page 102), and giving you instructions for DIYs you can do for fall (page 12) and to spruce up your home (page 59).
As the kids go back to school and other activities start up again, remember to take a moment to enjoy the cooling weather and the space where you live. I think sitting down with American Farmhouse Style and your favorite fall drink is a great way to do that.
