Small Space STORAGE IDEAS

-

Making the most of every space is important, especially for storage. Here are Chrissy’s tips for maximizing storage, no matter how small your space.

• USE BASKETS. Whether tucked away or out in the open, baskets of all shapes, sizes and colors can help you get more storage into your house. “I hide toys in the three under my TV in the living room,” Chrissy says. Plus, they’re a great way to add texture to your décor.

• FUNCTIONAL FURNITURE. Getting a balance between style and function is a must, especially if you’re dealing with limited space. Select furniture that serves both by providing practical storage. “Refinished dressers make great storage pieces,” Chrissy says. Look for ottomans that have room inside to stash away blankets, bathroom vanities that have room under the sink for toiletries and hutches you can use for linens, serveware and anything else you need.

• GET CREATIVE. Think outside the box to create personalized storage options for your farmhouse. Don’t have a closet? “I snagged a locker from a friend and use it to store my son Levi’s clothes,” Chrissy says. Add open shelves to empty walls, hooks to hang coats and repurpose antique pieces to hide away less-used items.

?? ?? Originally a closet, Chrissy converted this room into a nursery when her son Levi was born. “We didn’t have a primary one, so we used it until we decided to make this room for him,” she says. “It doesn’t have a closet, so I cleaned the locker up and added a bar for his clothes.”

?? ?? Chrissy’s remodel of the nursery included changing out the floor, painting the ceiling and adding shiplap. “The brick to the left of his crib is a panel from Home Depot that we placed joint compound over to give it that authentic feel,” she says. The rug and wood details add some warmth.
