A Fond Farewel l
THIS IS MY LAST ISSUE AS THE EDITORIAL DIRECTOR OF AMERICAN FARMHOUSE STYLE. I started with the magazine as an intern in the Fall of 2014, when it was brand new on the market. I was fresh out of college and wanted to write (I didn’t care what I wrote, as long as I could get paid doing it). One of my very first assignments was a craft book review, in which we featured several Christmas DIYs, including some felt ornaments I immediately fell in love with. I snuck the book home and copied the pages so I could make the ornaments myself (I still use them every year). And with that assignment, I was officially smitten. How could I get paid to do something so fun? I felt like a cat with a canary.
My enjoyment working with American Farmhouse Style and its readers has continued ever since. I’ve delighted in discovering gorgeous home designs and getting to share them with you. I've loved hunting down unique vintage collectibles, learning about home-improvement upgrades and how to use power tools, and working with wonderful contributors.
When I started, AFS was a little newsstand publication you could only find in the grocery store, if you got lucky. Today, it's available not only in stores, but also online, across social media platforms, in your email inbox and your physical mailbox.
So, thank you, lovely readers. Thank you for your kind words and your heart emojis on Instagram posts. Thanks for following us on Pinterest, reading our online tutorials, participating in our giveaways and subscribing to the magazine. Your support has meant the world to me as I’ve grown alongside this brand.
But don’t worry! American Farmhouse Style isn’t going away. I’m leaving it in the capable hands of my colleagues, who will continue to curate inspiration and ideas that will help you reach your home decorating goals. And I’ll be right alongside you, surprised and delighted every time a beautiful issue shows up in my mailbox.
Have a wonderful Christmas season and enjoy this issue!
