The Kirk­land Mu­seum of Fine & Dec­o­ra­tive Art has opened its new lo­ca­tion only steps away from the Den­ver Art Mu­seum and Clyf­ford Still Mu­seum. The build­ing is clad in golden terra cotta and glass tiles and will fea­ture the in­au­gu­ral exhibition Prints Near and Far: Con­trast­ing Re­gional and Na­tional Prints from the Kirk­land and Mayer Col­lec­tions…michael Gal­lagher has been named deputy di­rec­tor for con­ser­va­tion and the Sher­man Fairchild Chair­man of Paint­ings Con­ser­va­tion at the Metropolitan Mu­seum of Art. He is tasked with over­see­ing the mu­seum’s con­ser­va­tion and sci­en­tific re­search de­part­ments…carnegie Mu­seum of Art cu­ra­tor of fine arts Louise Lip­pin­cott will step away from her po­si­tion in July. Her cur­rent exhibition at the mu­seum is Vi­sions of Or­der and Chaos: The En­light­ened Eye…two mem­bers of the cu­ra­to­rial staff at Toledo Mu­seum of Art have been pro­moted. An­drea Gard­ner has been named di­rec­tor of col­lec­tions, and Halona Nor­ton-west­brook was ap­pointed di­rec­tor of cu­ra­to­rial af­fairs…the John and Mable Rin­gling Mu­seum of

Art has an­nounced a $100 mil­lion dol­lar cam­paign to pre­serve the legacy of the mu­seum. This includes a $5 mil­lion dol­lar gift from Keith D. and Linda L. Monda to en­dow the modern and con­tem­po­rary art cu­ra­tor­ship…joslyn Art Mu­seum has com­pleted a $6.2 mil­lion build­ing and sys­tems up­grade that be­gan in 2012… Christie’s has ap­pointed Jon­quil O’reilly as vice pres­i­dent and head of sale for Old Master paint­ings. O’reilly was for­merly a se­nior spe­cial­ist at an­other auc­tion house in Lon­don and New York and has ex­ten­sive knowl­edge of dress in Euro­pean art from 1500 to 1800…The Crys­tal Bridges Mu­seum of Amer­i­can Art has an­nounced the ap­point­ment of Jennifer Pad­gett as as­sis­tant cu­ra­tor… The San Diego Mu­seum of Art has hired Stacey Loomis as the new di­rec­tor of de­vel­op­ment and mem­ber­ship… Les­lie Hind­man Auc­tion­eers has an­nounced a new lo­ca­tion in At­lanta’s Buck­head neigh­bor­hood. The first auc­tion to be con­ducted in At­lanta is sched­uled for Au­gust 18, and con­sign­ments are cur­rently be­ing ac­cepted across all cat­e­gories… Ellen Spear has been ap­pointed the chief phi­lan­thropy of­fi­cer at the Nor­man Rock­well Mu­seum. She comes to the mu­seum from the Her­itage Mu­se­ums & Gar­dens…the Mis­sis­sippi Mu­seum of Art has ac­cepted a gift of $750,000 from the James and Madeleine Mc­mul­lan Fam­ily Foun­da­tion, which will en­dow the po­si­tion of the mu­seum’s di­rec­tor of learn­ing and school pro­grams…el­iz­a­beth A. Eisen­stein and Deborah Wil­lis have been ap­pointed to the Smith­so­nian Amer­i­can Art Mu­seum’s board of com­mis­sion­ers. Each will serve a four year term help­ing to ful­fill the mu­seum’s mis­sion of cel­e­brat­ing artists whose work re­flect the Amer­i­can ex­pe­ri­ence and global con­nec­tions…an­drew M. Heller, Stephen B. Pierce and Wal­ter Padow have joined the NSU Art Mu­seum’s board of gov­er­nors dur­ing the mu­seum’s 60th an­niver­sary year…the Brook­lyn Mu­seum has wel­comed two new cu­ra­tors. Kris­ten Wind­muller-luna has been ap­pointed Sills Fam­ily Con­sult­ing Cu­ra­tor of African Art, while Drew Sawyer has been ap­pointed Phillip Leo­nian and Edith Rosen­baum Leo­nian Cu­ra­tor of Pho­tog­ra­phy.
