The Mariners’ Mu­seum and Park is show­cas­ing

Sailor Made, which opened in Fe­bru­ary and com­prises over 60 works made by sailors and ar­ti­sans at sea as a form of doc­u­men­ta­tion of his­toric events and to com­mem­o­rate the skill of the maker.whales carved from ivory or tusk known as scrimshaw will be on view as well as a watch stand made by a Nan­tucket whaler known as Charles Toby.the in­tri­cate carv­ings rep­re­sent his love of fam­ily and de­sire to re­turn safely to them. House­hold items, scrimshaw, knot work and nu­mer­ous other pieces of art will be avail­able to vis­i­tors as a glimpse into a sea­man’s life.

Sailor Made is now on view at the Mariners’ Mu­seum and Park.
