On view through July 3 at Ricco/maresca Gallery in New York is Renaldo Kuhler: Rocaterran­ia, showcasing the work of scientific illustrato­r Renaldo Kuhler.throughout his career, Kuhler created hundreds of plates for the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences, illustrati­ng diverse plants and wildlife for scientific journals, reference books and exhibits. The exhibition at Ricco/ Maresca Gallery, however, explores Kuhler’s vast imaginatio­n, showcasing artwork that accompanie­d a fully-realized fictional world the artist himself invented—that of Rocaterran­ia, a tiny sovereign nation on the border of New York and Canada with its own unique government, language and social system.
