From September 7 to November 30, the Blanton Museum of Art in Texas presents Charles white: the Gordon Gift to the University of Texas.the museum holds 23 works by White in its permanent collection, and this exhibition seeks to honor the career of this innovative artist and respected arts educator. Accompanied by an illustrated catalog published by the University of Texas Press, the show will include works from this gift as well as works by other artists in White’s circle.

Charles White (1918-1979), General Moses and Sojourner (Harriet Tubman and Sojourner Truth), 1954. Wolff ’s carbon pencil, white chalk over traces of graphite pencil, and charcoal wash splatter, 27⁄ x 38 in. Gift of Susan G. and Edmund W. Gordon to the units of Black Studies and the Blanton Museum of Art at the University of Texas at Austin.
