Cost of Revolution: the Life and Death of an Irish Soldier tells the untold story of Richard St. George, an Irish soldier and artist whose personal trauma and untimely death provide a unique examination into the history of the American Revolution and the subsequent Irish Revolution of 1798. The 5,000-square-foot exhibition, held at the Museum of the American Revolution in Philadelphia, chronicles St. George’s journey with more than 100 artifacts, manuscripts and works of art from Australia, Ireland, England and the United States, many of which will be on display in America for the first time. Five portraits of St. George created over a 25year time period will be reunited for the first time since they left the possession of his descendants more than a century ago.
