Among a bustling summer soirée schedule for Newport, Rhode Island, one weekend event distinguishes itself from the rest, offering visitors a chance to shop for a wide array of rare fine art and antique furniture, jewelry, clothing and more under one roof.the 2019 rendition of The Newport Show, formerly known as The Newport Antiques Show, will return to the indoor ice skating rink at St. George’s School from July 27 through July 28—bringing with it over 40 dealers of antiques, art and “exquisite objects.”

“Visitors will recognize that the event is about representing beauty, design and utility,” Ruth Taylor, executive director at Newport Historical Society, says. “because great design is timeless. whether you’re a fine art aficionado, a new collector of midcentury furniture or are always hunting for one-of-a-kind fashionable accessories, the Show is a not to be missed occasion.”

Featured dealers include The Cooley Gallery, Rehs Galleries, Inc., Oriental Rugs, Ltd., Port ‘N Starboard Gallery, The Silvervault, the Hanebergs Antiques and Carole Pinto Fine Arts, to name a few.

“They’ve really made an effort to include different things this year,” says

Oriental Rugs, Ltd. co-founder Karen Disaia. “There’s going to be more 20th century material and a younger, fun vibe, but still lots of fine art and antiques.” Disaia, who has been a dealer at the event since it was established in 2007, adds that The Newport Show has continued to evolve since its inception.“each year they try to bring in different dealers and keep the experience fresh for everyone,” she says, adding that visitors can expect a “fresh, renewed experience” for 2019.

As the primary fundraiser for its two beneficiaries, the Newport Historical Society and the Boys and Girls Club of Newport County, the art show and sale has raised $2.4 million in total in support of the nonprofits.

“It brings a lot of attention to the organizations,” Disaia says.“it’s just a special kind of show. I enjoy it because of the people as well as the character of the show itself—it’s elegant, but it’s not overwhelming. It’s a really great way to spend the day.”

The Newport Show will run from

July 27 through July 28, with a Gala Preview Party kicking off the weekend on July 26 from 6 to 9 p.m.
