Meet Dublin’s Fresh New Animation Player

Daily Madness pushes the boundaries of animation in Ireland.

Founded in 2015, Dublin animation house Daily Madness specializes in 2D animated projects, with a particular focus on designing pipelines and processes that maximize creativity. Company founder and producer Lindsey Adams, who is a 15-year veteran of the business, says everyone at Daily Madness knows the industry inside and out. “That’s why we have very ambitious plans to use that knowledge to push the boundaries of tv production and animated content, and we are actively looking for projects and opportunities to match our business model and core values,” she notes.

Daily Madness produces animated television shows, everything from script to screen. “We love every piece of the animation puzzle – we thrive in taking a concept and designing a bespoke pipeline that takes into account

each series’ unique logistics and creates space for the production to run with maximum creativity,” notes Adams. “No two shows are the same therefore we don’t approach our projects in the same way. We work from our vast

collective previous experience, laying down the required foundations quickly and efficiently at the start in order to successfully build a working, functional platform that enables our artists and crew to produce their best work.”

After setting up the business, Adams took the time to create a business model, find the right team and the right projects that would help the company start out on a good footing. “In 2018 into early 2019, Daily Madness quickly grew from a one-woman company to a fully crewed studio,” she notes. “We are now led by six heads of department who are all specialists in their fields”Since setting up the company in

2015, Lindsey’s most notable credits are as producer on the first season of Kiva Can Do (for Kavaleer Productions) and as supervising producer on Space Chickens in Space (for Gingerbread Animation, Anima, Cake Entertainment and Studio Moshi, currently broadcasting on Disney XD EMEA and Nine Networks Australia).

“We’re incredibly proud of both shows,” says Adams. “We love being able to alternate between pre-school and older kids shows, and we very much revel in the challenges of storytelling for each age group, and designing the pipelines that push the capabilities of the production logistics within each show’s unique parameters.”

The studio is currently providing design and animation service work on two series: Critters. TV, a comedy series for 6-10 years olds that fuses 2D character animation with stunning live-action nature documentary footage, and is being produced with Turnip & Duck for broadcast for fall on RTEjr (Ireland). Also in the works is a beautiful 2D animated pre-school series called Ollie, a co-pro between Lunanime and Ink &

Light Films, which will be distributed by BETA.

In addition to service work, Daily Madness has been very busy with the creation of a healthy development slate, headed up by Shannon George (producer and showrunner credits include Blue’s Clues, Kody Kapow, The Stinky and Dirty Show) as creative director. George has teamed up with head writer Kristina Yee and art director Adam Kavanagh, and is overseeing five original IP products at the 2019 markets, including Pins & Nettles, the studio’s latest pre-school series, which will be ready for broadcast from late 2020.

Adams and her team are looking forward to working with creative people, innovative companies and individuals championing projects that stand out from the crowd. “We are not afraid of risk-takers — as long as you are dedicated to creating memorable and relatable

characters, with an equal passion to makeing shows with a purpose,” she notes.“We want to work with people who love what they do, and want to do it well!”

Most of all, Adams says she and her team love creating worlds, and captivating characters, and stories that matter. “I am passionate about making original stories that connect with our audience in a long-lasting and relevant way,” she notes. “The whole process of pulling together creatives and visionaries with budgets and schedule logistics is exciting

and beautiful and still remains ever so slightly magical to me. Animation is an industry where everyone is constantly learning, and adapting and collaborating, with art and technology constantly pushing each other into new and exciting territories. It’s a place where I am constantly amazed and inspired. There isn’t a more dedicated, more passionate and more creative industry that you could be part of.”
