Pat­tern Notes

Rounds with the red clus­ter stitches are worked with wrong side fac­ing.

Color changes be­fore the clus­ters are worked in the last part of the sin­gle cro­chet be­fore the clus­ter as fol­lows: With white, in­sert hook in stitch, yarn over and pull up loop, put red on hook and pull through loops.

Carry un­used color be­hind work, work­ing stitches over the strand.

Join with slip stitch as in­di­cated un­less other­wise stated.

Rows 2– 48: Work­ing in back lps (see Stitch Guide) only, sc in each st across, ch 1, turn.

Row 49: Us­ing back lps only of row 48 and in op­po­site side of start­ing ch, sl st rows tog to make a tube, ch 1.

Rnd 50: Work­ing in rnds now and through ends of rows, work 48 sc around long edge of cuff, join (see Pat­tern Notes) to first sc, ch 1, turn. (48 sc)

Rnd 51: With WS fac­ing (see Pat­tern Notes), sc in same place as ch, sc in each of next 4 sts, chang­ing col­ors be­fore cl (see Pat­tern Notes) to red in 4th sc, work­ing over white strand (see Pat­tern Notes), cl (see Spe­cial Stitch), *car­ry­ing red be­hind work and work­ing over it, with white, sc in each of next 5 sts, chang­ing to red in last part of 5th st, cl in next st, rep from * around, join to first sc, ch 1, turn. Rnd 52: With RS fac­ing, us­ing white, sc in same place as ch, *sc in cl, sc in each of next 5 sts, rep from * around to last 5 sts, sc in cl, sc in each of next 4 sts, join to first sc, ch 1, turn.

Rnd 53: Sc in same place as ch, sc in next st chang­ing to red, *cl in next st, with white, sc in each of next 5 sts chang­ing to red in 5th sc, rep from * around to last 3 sts, sc in each of next 3 sts, join to first sc, ch 1, turn.

Rnd 54: Sc in same place as ch, sc in each of next 3 sts, sc in cl, *sc in each of next 5 sts, sc in cl, rep from * around to last 2 sts, sc in cl, sc in last st, join to first sc, ch 1, turn.

Rnd 59:

Work­ing in sc and in ch sps, ch 1, sc in same place, sk 2 sts, 6 dc in next st, *sk next 2 sts, sc in next st, sk next 2 sts, 6 dc in next st, rep from * around, end­ing with sk last 2 sts, join to first sc, end off. (8 scal­lops)

Tie

With soft white, ch 75, end off. Weave tie through ch-2 sps of rnd 58.

Pom­pom Make 2.

Hold­ing 1 strand each of red and white, wrap around card­board about 45 times. Slide lps off card­board and tie an­other strand tightly around mid­dle of strands. Snip lps on both edges, fluff and trim. Sew a pom­pom to each end of tie. •
