3 sts and 6 rows = 4 inches/10cm in St st.

To save time, take time to check gauge.

Spe­cial Ab­bre­vi­a­tions 2 over 2 Right Cross (2/2 RC):

Sl 2 sts to cn and hold in back; k2, k2 from cn.

2 over 2 Left Cross (2/2 LC):

Sl 2 sts to cn and hold in front; k2, k2 from cn.

Pat­tern Notes

To re­duce bulk and time spent weav­ing in ends, pre­pare your yarn by us­ing a nee­dle and thread to sew the ends of the skeins to­gether and then wind into 1 gi­ant ball.

Use dou­ble-point nee­dle as ca­ble nee­dle.


With larger nee­dle and us­ing long-tail cast- on (see page 126), cast on 36 sts.

Row 1 and all WS rows: P3, [k2, p4, k2, p3] 3 times.

Row 2 (RS): K3, [p2, k4, p2, k3] 3 times.

Row 4: K3, p2, 2/2 RC, p2, k3, p2, 2/2 LC, p2, k3, p2, 2/2 RC, p2, k3.

Row 6:

Rep Row 2.

Rep Rows 1– 6 un­til piece mea­sures 41 inches, end­ing with Row 6.

Bind off in pat.


Weave in ends, us­ing your fin­gers to push and pull ends through sts.

In an in­con­spic­u­ous spot on WS, use nee­dle and thread to sew ends in place. •
