Ma­te­ri­als

• Red Heart Su­per Saver medium (worsted) weight acrylic yarn (7 oz/364 yds/ 198g per skein): 1 skein each #705 grena­dine and #885 Delft blue

• Size G/6/4mm cro­chet hook or size needed to ob­tain gauge

• Ta­pes­try nee­dle

• 6-inch square card­board or pom­pom maker

• Tape mea­sure

Gauge

Toe: [1 post st, 1 sc] twice = 1 inch un­stretched

Pat­tern Notes

One skein of yarn will make at least 2 pairs of slip­pers.

Weave in loose ends as work pro­gresses. Join with slip stitch as in­di­cated un­less oth­er­wise stated. Chain-3 at be­gin­ning of round does not count as a dou­ble cro­chet. Af­ter com­plet­ing round 6 of toe, fold slip­per flat across and toe width will mea­sure 3 [31/2, 4, 41/2] inches un­stretched. Slip­per length will be ad­dressed af­ter be­gin­ning foot.

Spe­cial Stitch

Front post dou­ble cro­chet de­crease (fpdc dec): [ Yo, in­sert hook front to back to front again around next bpdc, yo, draw up a lp, yo, draw through 2 lps on hook] 5 [5, 6, 7] times, yo, draw through all 6 [6, 7, 8] lps on hook, ch 1 tightly to lock.

Rnd 1 (RS): Leav­ing 10-inch length at beg of toe, ch 5, join (see Pat­tern Notes) in first ch to form a ring, ch 3 (see Pat­tern Notes), work­ing over rem beg length and in ch-5 ring, work 12 [14, 16, 18] dc in ring, join in first dc. (12 [14, 16, 18] dc)

Rnd 2 (RS): Ch 1 loosely, fpdc (see Stitch Guide) around first dc, fpdc around each rem dc around, join in top of first fpdc, turn. (12 [14, 16, 18] fpdc)

Rnd 3 (WS): Ch 1, work­ing be­tween fpdc sts, sc in sp be­tween fpdc sts, bpdc (see Stitch Guide) around next fpdc, [sc in sp be­tween fpdc sts, bpdc around next fpdc] around, join in beg sc, turn. (12 [14, 16, 18] bpdc, 12 [14, 16, 18] sc)

Note: To se­cure toe, turn toe WS out, pull beg rem length of yarn worked over to close toe open­ing. With ta­pes­try nee­dle, weave length in and knot to se­cure, cut rem length from slip­per.

Rnd 4 (RS): Ch 1, [fpdc around next bpdc, sc in next sc] around, join in first fpdc, turn. (24 [28, 32, 36] sts)

Rnd 5 (WS): Ch 1, [sc in next sc, bpdc around next fpdc] around, join in first sc, turn.

Rnds 6–11 [6–15, 6–19, 6–23]: Mea­sure toe width (see Pat­tern Notes). Rep rnds 4 and 5 al­ter­nately 3 [5, 7, 9] times.

Foot

Row 12 [16, 20, 24] (RS): Now work­ing in rows, ch 1, hdc in same bpdc as join­ing, hdc in each of next 7 [9, 9, 11] sts, [fpdc around next bpdc, sc in next sc] 4 [4, 5, 6] times, fpdc around next bpdc, hdc in each of next 7 [9, 11, 11] sts, hdc in same st as beg hdc, turn. (25 [29, 33, 37] sts)

Row 13 [17, 21, 25] (WS): Ch 1, sc in each of next 8 [10, 12, 12] hdc, [bpdc around next fpdc, sc in next sc] 4 [4, 5, 6] times, bpdc around next fpdc, sc in each of next 8 [10, 10, 12] hdc, turn.

Heel

Row 23 [29, 35, 41] (WS): Ch 1, sc in each of next 8 [10, 12, 12] hdc, [bpdc around next fpdc, sk next sc] 4 [4, 5, 6] times, bpdc around next fpdc, sc in each of next 8 [10, 10, 12] hdc, turn. (21 [25, 28, 31] sts)

Row 24 [30, 36, 42] (RS): Ch 1, hdc in each of next 8 [10, 10, 12] sc, fpdc dec ( see Spe­cial Stitch), hdc in each of next 8 [10, 12, 12] sc. (17 [21, 23, 25] sts)

Ladies’ Edg­ing

Row 1 (RS): Work­ing in side edge of each hdc row, ch 1, (sc, ch 3, sc) in side edge of each hdc to op­po­site edge of slip­per, do not fas­ten off.

Turn heel area WS out, match­ing sts of last row of heel, sl st evenly across heel open­ing, knot to se­cure. Fas­ten off.

Gen­tle­men’s Edg­ing

Row 1 (WS): Work­ing in side edge of rows, ch 1, re­verse sc (see Stitch Guide) evenly sp to op­po­site edge of slip­per, do not fas­ten off.

Turn heel area WS out, match­ing sts of last row of heel, sl st evenly across heel open­ing, knot to se­cure. Fas­ten off.

Pom­pom

From card­board or us­ing a pom­pom maker, make 2 pom­poms each 11/2 [2, 2, 2] inches in di­am­e­ter. Sew a pom­pom to rnd 8 [11, 15, 19] of each slip­per. 
