All Buttoned Up Fingerless Mitts
A row of tiny buttons adds flair to these pretty fingerless mitts. Whether you use a variegated yarn or a solid color, be sure to make extra pairs for quick gifts too.
33/4 inches across palm x 7 inches long
• Premier Yarns Everyday Soft Worsted medium (worsted) weight acrylic yarn (31/2 oz/180 yds/100g per skein): 1 skein #200- 07 cold mountain
• Size G/6/4mm crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge
• 1/2-inch buttons: 12
• Tapestry needle
13 dc = 3 inches; first 7 rows = 3 inches long Take time to check gauge.
Beginning chains do not count as first stitch. Join with slip stitch in first half double crochet, double crochet or single crochet unless otherwise stated.
Make 2. Ch 30, join with sl st in first ch to form ring.
Rnd 1 RS: Ch 1 (see Pattern Notes), hdc in first ch, ch 1, (sk next ch, hdc in next ch, ch 1) around; join (see Pattern Notes) in first hdc, ch 1, turn. (15 hdc, 15 ch sps)
Rnd 2: Hdc in each st around; join in first hdc, ch 2, turn. (30 hdc)
Rnd 3: Dc in each st around; join, ch 1, turn.
Rnd 4: Rep rnd 2.
Row 1: Dc in each st across, do not join; ch 1, turn.
Row 2: Hdc in each st across; ch 2, turn.
Rows 3–5: Rep rows 1 and 2, rep row 1, join in first dc and fasten off.
Lay mitt flat with thumb opening at 1 fold. Join yarn in opposite fold, with WS facing.
Row 1: Ch 1, hdc in first st, sk next st, hdc in next 15 sts, sk next st, hdc in next 11 sts; ch 2, turn, leaving last st unworked. (27 hdc) Row 2: Dc in each st across; ch 1, turn.
Row 3: (Hdc in 10 sts, sk next st) twice, hdc in rem 5 sts; ch 2, turn. (25 hdc)
Row 4: Rep row 2.
Row 5: Hdc in each st across; ch 2, turn.
Rows 6– 8: Rep rows 4 and 5 once, rep row 4; turn to work down side of vent.
Button Loop Left Hand
Sc evenly down side of vent, sl st in unworked st of row 1, sc in end of first row on opposite side of vent, (ch 5, sc in end of row) 6 times evenly down side of vent, end with sl st in first st of last row. Fasten off.
(Ch 5, sc in end of row) 6 times evenly down side of vent, sl st in unworked st of row 1, sc evenly down other side of vent, end with sl st in last st of last row. Fasten off.
Weave in ends; dampen and block. Sew 6 buttons to each mitt on side of vent opposite button lps.
