All But­toned Up Fin­ger­less Mitts

• Premier Yarns Ev­ery­day Soft Worsted medium (worsted) weight acrylic yarn (31/2 oz/180 yds/100g per skein): 1 skein #200- 07 cold moun­tain

• Size G/6/4mm cro­chet hook or size needed to ob­tain gauge

• 1/2-inch but­tons: 12

• Ta­pes­try nee­dle

Gauge

13 dc = 3 inches; first 7 rows = 3 inches long Take time to check gauge.

Pat­tern Notes

Be­gin­ning chains do not count as first stitch. Join with slip stitch in first half dou­ble cro­chet, dou­ble cro­chet or sin­gle cro­chet un­less oth­er­wise stated.

Mitt

Make 2. Ch 30, join with sl st in first ch to form ring.

Rnd 1 RS: Ch 1 (see Pat­tern Notes), hdc in first ch, ch 1, (sk next ch, hdc in next ch, ch 1) around; join (see Pat­tern Notes) in first hdc, ch 1, turn. (15 hdc, 15 ch sps)

Rnd 2: Hdc in each st around; join in first hdc, ch 2, turn. (30 hdc)

Rnd 3: Dc in each st around; join, ch 1, turn.

Rnd 4: Rep rnd 2.

Thumb Shap­ing

Row 1: Dc in each st across, do not join; ch 1, turn.

Row 2: Hdc in each st across; ch 2, turn.

Rows 3–5: Rep rows 1 and 2, rep row 1, join in first dc and fas­ten off.

Vent Shap­ing

Lay mitt flat with thumb open­ing at 1 fold. Join yarn in op­po­site fold, with WS fac­ing.

Row 1: Ch 1, hdc in first st, sk next st, hdc in next 15 sts, sk next st, hdc in next 11 sts; ch 2, turn, leav­ing last st un­worked. (27 hdc) Row 2: Dc in each st across; ch 1, turn.

Row 3: (Hdc in 10 sts, sk next st) twice, hdc in rem 5 sts; ch 2, turn. (25 hdc)

Row 4: Rep row 2.

Row 5: Hdc in each st across; ch 2, turn.

Rows 6– 8: Rep rows 4 and 5 once, rep row 4; turn to work down side of vent.

But­ton Loop Left Hand

Sc evenly down side of vent, sl st in un­worked st of row 1, sc in end of first row on op­po­site side of vent, (ch 5, sc in end of row) 6 times evenly down side of vent, end with sl st in first st of last row. Fas­ten off.

Right Hand

(Ch 5, sc in end of row) 6 times evenly down side of vent, sl st in un­worked st of row 1, sc evenly down other side of vent, end with sl st in last st of last row. Fas­ten off.

Fin­ish­ing

Weave in ends; dampen and block. Sew 6 but­tons to each mitt on side of vent op­po­site but­ton lps. 
