• Ber­nat Sof­tee Chunky su­per bulky (su­per chunky) weight acrylic yarn (31/2 oz/108 yds/ 100g per skein): 16 skeins #28247 eu­ca­lyp­tus

• Size M/13/9mm cro­chet hook or size needed to ob­tain gauge

• Yarn nee­dle


4 shell rows = 2 inches; 8 hdc = 4 inches

Pat­tern Notes

Weave in loose ends as work pro­gresses. Throw is cro­cheted ver­ti­cally. Join with slip stitch as in­di­cated un­less oth­er­wise stated. Chain-2 at be­gin­ning of row does not count as a stitch un­less oth­er­wise stated.

Spe­cial Stitches

Shell: (Sc, dc) in in­di­cated st. Sin­gle cro­chet join (sc join): Place slip knot on hook, in­sert hook in in­di­cated st, yo and pull up a lp, yo and draw through both lps on hook.


Row 1 (WS): Ch 122, shell (see Spe­cial Stitches) in 2nd ch from hook, sk next ch, [shell in next ch, sk next ch] across to last ch, sc in last ch, turn. (60 shells, 1 sc)

Row 2: Ch 1, shell in first sc, sk next dc, [shell in next sc, sk next dc] across to last sc, sc in last sc, turn.

Row 3: Rep row 2.

Row 4: Ch 2 (see Pat­tern Notes), hdc in first st, hdc in each rem st across, turn. (121 hdc)

Row 5: Ch 1, sc in first st, work­ing in front lp (see Stitch Guide) only, sc in each st across to last st, sc in last st, turn. (2 sc, 119 front lp sc)

Rows 6 & 7: Rep rows 4 and 5.

Row 8: Ch 1, shell in first st, sk next st, [shell in next st, sk next st] across to last st, sc in last st, turn. (60 shells, 1 sc)

Rows 9–11: Rep row 2.

Rows 12–75: [Rep rows 4–11] 8 times con­sec­u­tively.

Rows 76– 80: Rep rows 4–8.

Rows 81 & 82: Rep row 2.


Rnd 1: Beg in any cor­ner, sc join (see Spe­cial Stitches), 2 sc in same cor­ner st, *sc evenly across to next cor­ner**, 3 sc in cor­ner st, rep from * around, end­ing last rep at **, join (see Pat­tern Notes) in beg sc.

Rnd 2: Ch 1, work­ing in back lp (see Stitch Guide), sc in each st around, work­ing 3 sc in each cen­ter cor­ner sc, join in beg sc. Fas­ten off. 
