Shells & Ridges Throw
Grab some super chunky yarn and a big hook and crochet yourself this warm throw over the weekend!
48 inches wide x 60 inches long
• Bernat Softee Chunky super bulky (super chunky) weight acrylic yarn (31/2 oz/108 yds/ 100g per skein): 16 skeins #28247 eucalyptus
• Size M/13/9mm crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge
• Yarn needle
4 shell rows = 2 inches; 8 hdc = 4 inches
Weave in loose ends as work progresses. Throw is crocheted vertically. Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated. Chain-2 at beginning of row does not count as a stitch unless otherwise stated.
Shell: (Sc, dc) in indicated st. Single crochet join (sc join): Place slip knot on hook, insert hook in indicated st, yo and pull up a lp, yo and draw through both lps on hook.
Row 1 (WS): Ch 122, shell (see Special Stitches) in 2nd ch from hook, sk next ch, [shell in next ch, sk next ch] across to last ch, sc in last ch, turn. (60 shells, 1 sc)
Row 2: Ch 1, shell in first sc, sk next dc, [shell in next sc, sk next dc] across to last sc, sc in last sc, turn.
Row 3: Rep row 2.
Row 4: Ch 2 (see Pattern Notes), hdc in first st, hdc in each rem st across, turn. (121 hdc)
Row 5: Ch 1, sc in first st, working in front lp (see Stitch Guide) only, sc in each st across to last st, sc in last st, turn. (2 sc, 119 front lp sc)
Rows 6 & 7: Rep rows 4 and 5.
Row 8: Ch 1, shell in first st, sk next st, [shell in next st, sk next st] across to last st, sc in last st, turn. (60 shells, 1 sc)
Rows 9–11: Rep row 2.
Rows 12–75: [Rep rows 4–11] 8 times consecutively.
Rows 76– 80: Rep rows 4–8.
Rows 81 & 82: Rep row 2.
Rnd 1: Beg in any corner, sc join (see Special Stitches), 2 sc in same corner st, *sc evenly across to next corner**, 3 sc in corner st, rep from * around, ending last rep at **, join (see Pattern Notes) in beg sc.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, working in back lp (see Stitch Guide), sc in each st around, working 3 sc in each center corner sc, join in beg sc. Fasten off.
