PWD Director Wilson due at coffee event series
PALMDALE — Palmdale Water District customers are invited to meet with Director Don Wilson to learn more about the District and its services on Tuesday in the third edition of “Coffee with a Director.”
The gathering will run from 9 to 11 a.m. at Starbucks, 280 East Palmdale Blvd.
Palmdale Water District will buy the first cup of coffee for community members at the gathering.
This is the third in a series of events, one with each of the five directors, intended to provide a casual environment for customers to meet with their representatives to the Board and ask water-related questions.
For those unable to attend in person, Wilson will be on Facebook Live from 10 to 10:30 a.m. on the Palmdale Water District’s page, @palmdaleh2o. Also, written questions may be submitted as Facebook messages to be answered during the broadcast.
“As one of the newest Board members, I am still learning how I can
best help our customers,” Wilson said. “I believe the first step is meeting them and listening to their concerns. I encourage people to come enjoy a cup of coffee with me and talk water.”
Wilson represents Division 2, an area that stretches to a small section that borders Palmdale Boulevard to the north and lies mainly south and west of central Palmdale. The boundaries are south of Palmdale Boulevard and Avenue R west of 25th Street East, and south of Pearblossom Highway east of 25th Street East.
The division also includes portions of Juniper Hills.
Wilson was elected to a four-year term on the Board in November.
A New York transplant who grew up in Simi Valley, Wilson has lived in Palmdale since 1987. He retired as a retail sales representative in 2016 after 28 years with Foster Farms. He also has restaurant and hotel management experience.
Prior to his election to the Palmdale Water District Board of Directors, he was appointed to the Palmdale School District Personal Committee Board in November 2017. That term ends in 2020.
The next “Coffee with a Director” will feature Division 3 Director Gloria Dizmang on Oct. 19.
Earlier editions of “Coffee with a Director” featured Division 4 Director Kathy Mac Laren and Division 1 Director Robert Alvarado.
