LANCASTER — Antelope Valley Transit Authority’s Stuff-a-Bus stopped by Grace Resource Center Wednesday to deliver toys, clothing and a bike to the nonprofit organization.

“This is a great event and we love participating. It makes a huge difference for a lot of families,” Grace Resources Executive Director Steve Baker said. “AVTA’s always been generous to us, and that’s what makes our world go round.”

Grace Resource Center was one of four delivery stops Wednesday. The bus also made three stops Tuesday to deliver items, including to South Antelope Valley Emergency Services, or SAVES, in Palmdale.

“We actually make it very equitable,” AVTA Compliance Officer Kelly Miller said. “We do an even split amongst our seven charities so everybody gets pretty much the same amount of everything.”

The Stuff-a-Bus also delivered toys to the Children’s Center of the Antelope Valley, the Children’s

Bureau and the Child and Family Guidance Center.

“We had to, for the first time, offload the bus to create room for the second week,” Miller said. “So we probably stuffed this bus one-and-a-half times.”

AVTA’s Stuff-a-Bus sponsors include Kaiser Permanente, BYD, Transdev, High Desert Medical Group, Cullen Allstate Insurance, Avail Technologies, Complete Coach Works, Lancaster JetHawks, OpSec Security, Duke Engineering, Taft Electric, Granite Construction and Hunter Dodge Jeep Chrysler RAM and Fiat.
