Proud Republicans

To Skip Thacker, I say, I don’t deny the existence of any federal immigration law. I find that laws that prohibit the free flow of labor serve the interests of the international capitalist class, exclusively. Since the establishment of neoliberalism, capitalists have been chasing after cheap labor throughout the world, while workers have remained mostly moored and at the mercy of multinationals.

That has created a situation in which global capitalism has steadily reduced the standards of living for billions of workers, including America’s ever-receding and socalled middle class. Short of instituting a worldwide socialist order, I think the best approach to this situation would be to open all borders toward the irrepressible flow of labor accompanied by an international minimum wage, which, I believe, would add a measure of symmetry into the equation.

To Harold Holifield, I say, my having referred to Trump supporters as being obstinate and misinformed individuals who lend themselves to racism, sexism, homophobia, xenophobia, patriarchy, authoritarianism, and cult-like behavior was an observation rather than an opinion. The majority of these people have been exhibiting their true colors at least since the election of President Obama, and seldom do they attempt to conceal their bigotry.

Per my having referred to Trump as a pathological liar, conman, criminal and traitor, not to mention an (admitted) serial sexual assaulter, those (too) are observations rather than opinions. Indeed, the especially creepy sociopath is quite obviously the personification of all of those things.

So, no, Harold Holifield, I won’t be writing a retraction.

As Ed Galindo so astutely stated in his letter “How Embarrassing,” “(w) e deserve better.” So too did Mr. Galindo correctly allude to little Donny’s utterly childish behavior, for which the rest of the world is laughing at us. Republicans must be so proud.
