A strong foundation

-

Those ultra-rightwinged President Trump lovers who see him as being the second coming of the Messiah will never believe the facts surrounding the economy being everything he preaches it to be.

According to financial expert Michelle Singletary, “the average working class-class family is living paycheck to paycheck. They are struggling to make ends meet.”

Starting January 1, 2020, 24 states and 48 cities and counties, will raise their minimum wage to $15 an hour. However, the federal minimum wage is stalled out at $7.25/hour.

President Trump’s famous tax overhaul is not working for the middle-class. The president boasted that his tax cuts would translate into a $4,000 raise for the average household. The president’s claimed his corporate tax-cut would ultimately trickle down and translate into higher wages for the working class. After two years we have seen little trickle down.

Even though he raised the standard deduction, he took away many of the individual deductions. His new standard deduction only works if you were using it previously. However, it you are like me and many other working people who itemized, you found out last time you filed your last taxes it was not pleasant. It cost you more. For me it was over $4,000.

Another downfall of his tax overhaul is what it has added to the national debt. The tax cut was worth about $2 trillion. However, because of his spending spree it has cost the tax payers another $2 trillion.

Now I will give the president this, the stock market is at an all-time high with unemployment being at an all-time low. However, the market(s) and employment were on the way up when President Obama left office. President Obama laid the foundation. And as we all know, you need a strong foundation if you are to build anything. George Jung Antelope Acres
