The Boogie Woogie Mamas, a dance group for seniors, is looking for mature women who want to learn to dance.

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide needs volunteers
The AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is looking for local volunteers for the upcoming tax season as tax counselors, client facilitators and technology coordinators.
Training and support are provided. Bilingual speakers in all roles are needed, especially interpreters who can assist other volunteers. All new volunteers must be interviewed or attend an orientation
Computer skills are recommended. Training is provided by experienced Tax-Aide volunteers. The program operates from Feb. 1 to April 15 with a minimum service commitment of one to two days per week. Volunteers are reimbursed for mileage. Students may earn college credit.

Self-defense program launched
Conscious Defense, a leading provider of specialized Women’s self-defense programs, has launched a training program: Condensed Women’s Self-Defense Workshop.
It will be offered monthly by online registration. Women’s Self-Defense Workshop, a four-hour one afternoon program, will take place at the High Desert Dance Company, 43423 Division St. Parking is available on site.

Drivers needed for veterans
The Disabled American Veterans organization needs more volunteer drivers to be able to service the demand from the Antelope Valley.
The organization provides “free to veteran patients” van service from the Antelope Valley to the Sepulveda Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
Prospective drivers are asked to have a clean driving record and be in good health. Meals are provided on days the drivers work. For details, call Marie Williams, transportation coordinator for the service, at 818-895-9408.
Bags4kids needs baby items
Bags4kids is in need of baby items for the “comfort bags” they fill for displaced children.
The items needed are bottles, pacifiers, diapers, wipes, baby blankets, tiny books and teething toys.
